Opening and Pulling Charts meridianEMR insures that patient charts are never
lost or misplaced. Existing charts can be accessed quickly with our advanced search capability that allows multiple pieces
of information to be searched for at the same time.
Once the patient is displayed their chart can be opened or placed
into the workflow.
Creating New Charts If you have a Practice Management system integrated with meridianEMR,
this process is done automatically for you as a by-product of the staff creating the patient in your Practice Management system.
To create a new patient chart in meridianEMR without integration to a Practice Management system, simply launch the Add Patient
button on the Search screen.
A chart can be opened simultaneously by any number of qualified practice members. As front
office staff works on the patient demographics and insurance information, clinical personnel can open the chart to record
clinical information such as patient encounters, vital signs and health history.
Charting
Windows When a patient chart is displayed it is opened up based upon preset parameters. These parameters are used
to "remember" the way in which a specific physician likes to have the chart information displayed or the way in which a chart
is opened for a specific reason, like medication refill.
Once the chart is displayed you can access any of the following
areas:
Patient Allergies Patient Calls Patient Images (Scanned or Faxed) Patient
Problems Patient Immunizations Patient Lab Results Patient Medications Patient
Health Maintenance Explorers Patient Procedures Patient Flowsheets
The
Patient Visit This is the No. 1 area most EMR’s fall short. The patient encounter is where the physician must be comfortable
interacting with the EMR system, and therefore must provide the following critical factors:
The system must allow
the physician to practice medicine without any significant changes to their workflow The system must be easy to
use, and flow extremely well The system must provide fast access to the latest medical content The
system must assist in proper CPT coding The system must allow the physician to quickly and easily write a RX after
drug-to-drug and other precautions have been satisfied, and print it out for the patient
The
Encounter Editor The meridianEMR Encounter Editor combines the most advanced features of Java and XML technologies
to power the complaint and specialty based templates designed by our expert medical advisory panel. This critical piece of
our system creates a major difference between meridianEMR and all the other EMR systems.
The Encounter Editor comes
pre-loaded with hundreds of clinical templates designed to streamline documentation and provide decision support at the point
of care for all of the medical specialties. We can modify or create new templates if necessary. All our templates are based
on HCFA billing rules which allows our CPT code calculator to help "suggest" the proper CPT code.
The intuitive interface
gives providers the ability to document a complete patient encounter simply by pointing and clicking on data points that correspond
to targeted elements.
Printing & Scanning meridianEMR provides for multiple methods
of importing outside information into the patient chart. Our Image Navigator simplifies the addition of demographic, lab,
diagnostic and esoteric documents directly into the patient chart.
Our image processing software allows users to upload
a variety of different image, text and multimedia file types.
meridianEMR incorporates extensive printing capabilities
that enable practices to create paper copies of their electronic patient charts and practice transactions.
Practice
Management System Integration Module In order for your practice to work as efficiently as possible, meridianEMR provides
interfaces with most practice management systems. This streamlines and seamlessly integrates the clinical and financial components
of practice management. We use industry-standard HL7 to provide system integrations at three key points:
Patient
Demographics – After adding a new patient, or changing demographic information, our system will automatically update your
clinical data files from the practice management system. Patient Scheduling – Every day all of the patients that
are scheduled for an appointment will display in the physician's workflow. Patient Charge entry – At the end of
the encounter, the system forwards to the PM system the CPT and ICD9 codes that were selected.
Confidentiality Insuring
the security and confidentiality of patient charts is a of utmost concern. meridianEMR uses powerful encryption technologies
to ensure that only authorized practice members have access to chart data. The Security Roles enable Practice Administrators
to have complete control over the level of access (from None to Full) that each practice member has to the charts.
